The Bees
Dutchess County Combworks thrives at the intersection of apiculture and agriculture, connecting small farms across the Hudson Valley through a growing network of apiaries. This work is guided by a deep respect for honeybees, the land they forage, and the diverse terroirs that shape each harvest.
The mission centers on education, conservation, and community connection—raising awareness about the essential role of pollinators, the impact of their work on local ecosystems, and how their presence supports food systems and biodiversity.
Everyone has a place in this story. Whether tasting honey, walking through a field of forage, or learning how to support pollinators at home, the connection begins here.
The Beekeeper
Meg Bertram began her beekeeping journey through the Astor Apiaries Urban Beekeeping Apprenticeship, where she gained a deep understanding of bee behavior, hive management, and sustainable practices. She continues to grow her knowledge through the Northern Dutchess Beekeepers Club and the Cornell Master Beekeeper Certification Program.
With a background in the culinary arts and a degree from the Culinary Institute of America, Meg brings a refined palate to her work—allowing the distinct flavors of each honey to shine and reflect the diversity of the Hudson Valley landscape.
Through Dutchess County Combworks, Meg cultivates a network of apiaries that support local farms, deepen community connection, and raise awareness about the essential role of pollinators in our food systems. Her work is rooted in care, curiosity, and a desire to share the magic of the hive—one season, one harvest, one taste at a time.
